Author Guidelines

The English and Chinese editions of the Yin-Cheng Journal of Contemporary Buddhism seek essays on Buddhism and contemporary society. We invite submissions exploring any aspect of contemporary Buddhism. Essays exploring the continued or renewed salience of “traditional” Buddhist ideas for emerging forms of contemporary Buddhist identity and practice are especially welcome. Essays may focus on any Buddhist tradition, country, or culture, and engage a range of methodological and/or interdisciplinary approaches (including but not limited to Buddhist ethics, history, philosophy, literature and narrative, ethnography, art history, material culture, race, gender, environmental humanities, media studies, and so on).

All submissions will be assessed by the editorial team to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of the journal. All essays selected for publication are subject to double blind peer-review.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, including photos, documents, and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to being identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Prior to submission, please review the “Submission Preparation Checklist.”
